Welcome to UM Photo Club!
This website is at developing state.
Who We Are
Established in 1970 we exist to give common ground for photographers on campus to congregate and communicate.
If you have questions or would like to join us please come by 116 University Center (right next to the UMSU Copy Center) and we will be happy to help you. You can also email the club at umphotoclub@gmail.com
What We Offer
Black & White Darkroom:
Members have year-round access to the B & W darkroom, to develop their own film, as well as make print enlargements from 35-mm, medium format, and large format negatives. The chemicals needed to process the B & W film and prints are made through the Photo Club. Members only need to supply their own photo-paper and film.
There are also workshops, a portrait studio, field trips and many other great benefits of becoming a photo club member.
While the equipment is not available for members to develop color prints or negatives, photography is so much more than the medium used. The same principles required to take a great photo apply universally regardless of the camera used. Joining the photo club gives all members a chance to participate in meetings and workshops to improve their skills.
Annual membership to the photo club is $25 for U of M students, $40 for non-U of M students, and $50 for non-students. This fee is used to purchase materials for the darkrooms and workshops, as well as maintain the studio equipment. New members are always welcome to join throughout the year.
